An autumnal bracelet.

Whilst out shopping with my daughters near the end of the summer holidays I came upon these necklaces at just 25p each in Internacional's sale:

I bought two; one to dismantle and add the beads and charms to my stash and one to keep just as it is.

The beautiful beads that I got from Jenny as part of the Pumpkin Patch swap motivated me to get out the jewellery making supplies again.

When I saw those lovely beads I just knew what I wanted to do with them, and that they would pair beautifully with some of the beads and charms from the dismantled necklace.

Jenny had sent me some lovely beads in various shades of autumn which I thought would make lovely focal beads amongst the autumn shaded small beads from the dismantled bargain.

I decided to make myself a memory wire bracelet.

TaDa !!!

I absolutely love how it has turned out, and think this will be worn loads over the coming months.

Vintage Jewellery Challenge

this week on the MSE Jewellery Making thread, Crafty JuJu chose me to set the next challenge. I duly set the challenge to make a vintage style piece of jewellery.

This is my offering.
I decided to make a bracelet for myself and used a brass toned chain and clasp. I made up some dangly bead charms with red and purple toned beads and added two brass toned rose charms.
The clear beads with the long bead caps on were salvaged from a Primark necklace and finally I added the copper toned workings of an old watch.

Just a note to the lovely ladies who have taken part in this challenge, I won't be able to choose a winner till Sunday this week as I will be away at a motorbike rally this weekend.

Recycled Jewellery Challenge

Over on the MSE jewellery making thread this weeks challenge was to make a piece of jewellery using something recycled. For my entry to the challenge I took a beaded belt which came with a skirt many years ago but is now far too small for my ample middle...

...into a necklace.

Thanks Crafty JuJu for this week's challenge, I loved the beads on the belt and your challenge was just the spurt I needed to make them into something that I will once again wear.

MSE Jewellery Challenge

I made this necklace for my daughter Rae in response to the challenge set by Yukkibear on the jewellery making thread of money saving expert. The challenge was:

"Think of someone who deserves a present and make them something they'll love. You don't have to actually give it to them, but it has to have a meaning" Tell us who it's for and why.

Rae has had a bit of a hard time lately, but continues to do a fantastic job of raising my granddaughter, so I thought she deserved something made especially for her. She loves pirates and is always admiring my steampunk jewellery, so I thought I'd do a pirate themed steampunk style necklace to cheer her up. The round brass ball is actually a locket and though I haven't done so yet I'm going to print off a couple of Johnny Dep pics from Pirates of the Caribbean, she also drools over Johnny Dep - and who doesn't ; ) and put them in the locket before I give it to her.
