Today was the funeral of our friend.
As funerals go it was quite an uplifting event.
There was an excellent turnout, with standing room only - in fact some people were unable to fit into the chapel.
The hearse was a suitable conveyance for a biker...
..and was followed by many of his friends and family on their bikes.
Instead of a minutes contemplative silence, the congregation gave a round of applause and three rousing cheers.
The song played was specially selected by Maz himself and was so typical of him...
Eric Idle's Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.
He will be sadly missed.
Sad/happy/sad day for you two eh?

Fantastic hearse, it is so good to know that a persons last trip in this mortal world is befitting of them!
ReplyDeleteThat is just so incredibly sad.....but so pleased it was an uplifting funeral for everyone.

On a lighter note, thank you for introducing yourself at the Fair at New College Durham.....lovely to meet you and hope the jug has been put to good use.

How lovely to go out with friends like that, in such a personal way. So young though, what a shame .

Oh I've gone a bit emotional reading that. I always think it's lovely when funerals can be uplifitng rather than just sad but he was so young and it must be heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fitting way for a bikers last ride.
ReplyDeletemy thoughts are with you.
It sounds like the best send off he could have had x
ReplyDeleteHe sounds like he was fun to know. Fabulous hearse, its nice when a funeral can be a celebration of life not just about death.
